Who typically engages Lalang Consulting?
Our clients tend to be established Malaysian organisations — often in regulated or publicly visible industries — that are navigating a significant transition, developing a more considered communications practice, or working through a public affairs question that requires careful thought. We are not the right fit for organisations looking for rapid turnaround work or broad campaign execution.
How long does an engagement typically take?
This varies by service. Communications Strategy Advisory runs seven to nine weeks; Public Affairs Consultation spans nine to eleven weeks; and our Reputation Considerations Review typically takes eight to ten weeks. These durations reflect the time needed to do the work properly — to conduct stakeholder conversations, develop considered analysis, and produce written deliverables that are genuinely useful.
What does the initial conversation involve?
A first conversation is simply a chance to understand your organisation's situation and what you are hoping to work through. We ask questions, listen carefully, and give an honest view of whether and how we might be useful. There is no sales process and no obligation following this conversation.
How are fees structured?
Our fees are set per engagement type and disclosed upfront. We do not charge by the hour in a way that creates uncertainty for clients. The fees listed on this site reflect the full scope of the engagement, including all consultations, stakeholder work where applicable, and written deliverables. We invoice in Malaysian Ringgit (MYR).
How is client information handled?
All client information is treated with the highest discretion. We do not discuss client engagements publicly, nor do we reference client names in our own communications without explicit permission. Engagements involving sensitive public affairs or reputation matters are handled with additional care around information security and internal access.
Do you work with organisations outside Kuala Lumpur?
Yes. While we are based in Kuala Lumpur, we work with organisations across Malaysia. Many engagement activities can be conducted remotely, with in-person sessions arranged where the work requires it. We are also open to working with regional organisations that have a significant Malaysian public interface dimension.
